Suicidle Tendencies: A Look At The Social Views of Suicide

Most everyone has experienced suicide in there lives at least once. Some are more closely linked than others, but more than likely you know someone who has taken their own life.

Whether it be from depression, mounting pressure from work or the teasing of the cruel, uncaring people of the world, everyone has there own reason for taking their life.

It would seem that grief and sadness would be the most prevalent emotions in the moment someone finds out someone close to them have killed themselves, but it seems far too often that those emotions are trumped with thoughts of ignorant proportion.

Everyone looks at suicide a different way, but in most cases society tends to chastise those who take their own life. Society aside, families of the dead are going to not criticize there dead loved one. They are going to wish that it didn’t happen and wish that they would have came to them for help, but they are not going to think badly of them for doing it. Society on the other hand tends to look at it with a negative scope that has no need to really exist.

Now the big question is this. Why does society tend to look at people who commit suicide in a negative connotation?

The first thought that comes to me is religious beliefs. Catholics don't even let people who have committed suicide have a funeral in a catholic church for it is considered a mortal sin to take your own life. As if you are spiting god for taking your life without his permission and cutting in line to the afterlife.

The second, and probably most prevalent, thought that comes to my mind is that of the social perception of death itself. Don’t get the words twisted, people usually don’t live to die, but it is the perception that death is a bad thing. Death is a part of everyone’s life and most people don't wish to grasp that concept. So when someone takes there own life society tends to act of the victim and perceive the person no longer here to defend themselves as the criminal, in a sense.

How can someone disregard someone’s life on the simple basis of them not dying from some freak accident or naturally? Society needs to come to grips with a couple of facts.

First, how do you know what was wrong with the people who took there life? How do you know that you wouldn't take your life if you were in there shoes? People tend to judge from a distance without really learning what they need to make a valid judgment.

Second, keep your nose out of other peoples business and keep your thoughts to yourself. Do you think the parents of a teenager who just killed himself want to hear about how weak minded and pathetic their dead child was? Not likely.

Suicide might not be the best available option for whoever chooses that path, but it’s their path to walk down. Those who choose to walk down that path deserve the same tranquility we get when we are forced down our own dusty trail to the afterlife.

Drowning In a Sea of Lyrics

music is a very big part of my life. music can trigger a wide array of emotions in someones life from sadness to anger to happiness.

someone has that one song that makes them sad or happy. what song is that for you? "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day always gives me a feeling of lonliness for i had broken up with my then girlfreind when the song released, which just happened to be in September.
kind of ironic.

what song makes you sad or happy and for what reasons? if you can find them, post the lyrics as well.

"Wake Me Up When September Ends"
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
like my fathers come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends
here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are
as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends
summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when september ends
here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are
as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
like my father's come to passtwenty years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends

Parralellism and Contradictory Statements: A Review of "V For Vendetta"

"This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vangquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis--vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

I saw "V for Vendetta" Sunday night and i have been meaning to write something up here that came to me while i was watching the movie. It has been four days since I actually watched the movie, so it is going to be a struggle to get what I had wanted. But I am going to try.

The movie itself is set twenty yeas ahead of us in the future, but that matters little. All it does is allow the people that wrote the movie to show that America has gone to hell and that Britain has become the new super power in the world. Other than building the base of the plot, it matters little. Over those years, Britain has become a country willingly oppressed by there supreme chancellor. I forget his name. They have curfews that the supreme chancellor has control over. The government regulates a majority of the populations life. Although they are unaware of the regulation that is rampant in the society they live in, they do not question why these rules, such as curfews, are in effect. By doing this the supreme chancellor has uncontested control of the society itself. But how did he get control in the first place? That is the question.

By contaminating the water of three key points in the society, essentially killing part of their society, the Supreme chancellor was able to instill a sense of fear into the society. With that fear that the disaster that had just occurred, they elected the supreme chancellor to his position. He had made promises of action and followed through. He was able to win their trust through the fear of disaster.

Now is any of this sound somewhat familiar? There are similarities to our government all over this movie.

September 11th, 2002 we were attacked by terrorists causing one of the most devastating events in the history of our country. By using the fear of another attack bush was able to put his agenda into work. Bush took advantage of the fear in our society to push his agenda. During these times which fear ruled, we allowed the Patriot Act to be signed into affect. The Patriot Act is unconstitutional on many levels and should have never been allowed to be signed into power, but with the fear caused by the 9/11 attacks, we as a society turned a blind eye.

Then Bush started this war that has dragged out for over three years now. This war is a waste of money, time, and human life. There is no longer a reason to be in Iraq or to be entering Iran or any other country in that matter. So why are we still there? Iraq is a free country. We have done our job. We should not be holding there hands through the rest of the process. If they can not survive without us, then why did we take Saddam out of power? At least he could run his country! I am a believer of Darwins theory of natural selection; the strong survive and the weak die. If Iraq cannot fend for itself, then they do not deserve to be.

This is a direct correlation to the movie itself. Britain in the movie could be seen as America today. Our country is lead through fear. Why do we still have the terror alert system? It is a scare tactic. By controlling the idea that we could be struck by another terrorist plot, bush was able to get re-elected, then sign the Patriot Act back into affect. Bush has used fear to accomplish all his goals. It is time for change in America. Our economy is shit, and our country is in a decline. Over time, we will not be the super power of the world anymore, if things do not change. Open your mind and think for yourself. Do not let the government make you believe what they want you to believe. Question everything! Do not let your government control your life for there should be no fear of our government. We need to become like Britain in the movie. Not afraid to fight back against an unjust government that try to control us through fear. We should not fear our government, our government should fear us!

For Oil or Respect?

This is a blog that i wrote on March 27, 2006. It's not to be misunderstood as me being unpatriotic, but i have the ability to voice my opinion about the way that this war is being conducted. Do not take this as a shot at our country, instead take it as a shot at the people within the country who do not question what is going on in Iraq.

Am i the only one that doesnt really understand why we are in Iraq and about to enter Iran? Everyday that this war inches along, it becomes more obvious to me that there is some other reason, other than the whole war on terror, that we are fighting this very expensive, pointless war.

As far as i am concerned, there are more problems that need to be resolved in the states that could use the preciosu funding that the war has been reciving. Everyday that we have troops across seas fighting this war, it is costing the country approxemitly 1 billion dollars. That money could be used in helping fix our economy and helping educate people in this country. The United States is turning into and ignorent, overweight hipocrit of a country.

With that said, im disgusted how blindly people follow our ignorent leader into the abyss. Its a shame that the most powerful country in the world has no respect around the world. What do you think of our great country now?
