i was eating my lunch today and happened to catch a piece of Hardball wit Chris Matthews. today they were talking about Rush Limbaugh becoming a silent (HA!) partner with the St. Louis Rams. that would be a lot of money that he is putting into a team that, quite honestly, sucks. im attaching the segment here. give me your opinion on the matter. is it a good idea? why? why not?
I think this is a non issue. Sure, Rush has a lousy reputation regarding his comments on Donovan McNabb and other issues he's crapped on. He's a loud-mouth and a far-right conservative. But you can look up and down the list of owners of the the NFL and I would guess they have just as many behavior traits that some of us find difficult to swallow. Rush just has a bigger microphone and doesn't know when to shut his trap.
ReplyDeleteI don't think owning an NFL team is about political viewpoints. It's about winning and making money (not necessarily in that order).
Rush has proven to be a good businessman. I don't know what kind of NFL owner he'd be. It's a business that looks at the bottom line just as much as a radio network or a fruit stand.
Steven (Stephen?) Smith wants the Black players to stand up and make a statement if Rush buys the team. That's not going to happen. I don't think players are as connected to their owners as much as we think.
Rush is trying to buy 60 percent of the team. I don't know how much that kind of ownership will allow him to control the day-to-day operations of that team.
I say let him get his share and see what happens. This is turning into a big witch hunt. We've got better things to spend our time with. Giving Rush more press is just a bad idea.
i agree that giving rush more press isnt a good thing. but i see where some league reps would be iffy about the situation...especially roger goodell.
ReplyDeleteyou dont want a know protagonist diverting attention away from the product of the game.
i think that this story will not be going away anytime soon.
